Advantages and features of a beach holiday in Sozopol
Sozopol is located on the Black Sea coast and is one of the most popular resorts in Bulgaria. The beach season starts on June 1. Air temperatures during this period rise to +25 degrees, and the water warms up to +22 degrees.
The beaches in Sozopol are sandy; here you can, and it is even advisable to, rent a sun lounger, because if you don’t, you may literally end up without a spot under the sun. However, there are also beaches (for example, Duna, Gradina, etc.) where you can manage without loungers, since there are always free places on the sand.
Some beaches in Sozopol are equipped with gazebos that families can rent.
If we talk about beaches we would recommend for relaxing, these are the central beach, Harmanite Beach, Smokinya, as well as Gradina and Dune mentioned above. All of these beaches have a gentle entry into the water and are ideal for families with children.

Travel Guide to Sozopol
The resort of Sozopol is included in the list of the most popular tourist resorts in Bulgaria. It is located only 40 kilometres from another important tourist centre in Bulgaria, called Burgas. It is worth mentioning that in antiquity Sozopol bore the name Apollonia in honour of Apollo, who, as you know, is the patron of all sailors; once there was even a 13-metre-high statue of this god on the settlement’s territory.
Sozopol is ideal for a beach holiday with children, because all local beaches comply with safety standards. But besides swimming and relaxing on the Black Sea coast, you can also enjoy other activities. For example, take a fascinating walk through the old town, where you can admire the cobbled streets and temples. By the way, this area of the city is currently under UNESCO protection.
The Knights’ Castle in Ravadinovo is a place you should definitely visit during your holiday in Sozopol. It was built only a few decades ago, but it looks authentic. Also, don’t miss the Ropotamo Reserve, known as the “Bulgarian Amazon”; here, among tropical vegetation, various rare species of animals and birds live.
Wild cacti grow in Bulgaria — you can see them in the Snake Island Reserve. Every year they bloom so beautifully you can’t take your eyes off them!
Of course, take a walk to the Stone Gates in old Sozopol — visiting this attraction is free.
A very popular attraction in Sozopol is Marina Port. Giant jellyfish live here, and the place itself is very picturesque.
And near the city’s main square there is the Amphitheatre — one of the main attractions of these places. Concerts are currently held here.
