Advantages and features of a beach holiday in Lefkada
As has already been written, the island of Lefkada is famous for its extraordinary beaches, some of them being among the best in the world.
One of the most popular beaches is Porto Katsiki, located on the south-eastern coast, with a well-developed infrastructure. The downside of this beach is the crowds, and therefore the noise.
Egremni Beach, unlike the first one, stands out for its peaceful atmosphere, located in an isolated spot.
At Kathisma Beach, soft sand and clear water await you, changing colour depending on the weather. This beach is perfectly equipped; here you will have the opportunity to rent a sunbed and umbrella, enjoy water sports, which are very diverse in this area. Not far from the shore there is also a car park.
One of the best beaches in Lefkada is considered to be Nydri — with soft sand, crystal-clear water, and a well-developed infrastructure. Here you will find a large number of hotels, restaurants, shops, pharmacies, and ATMs.
For kiting enthusiasts, we recommend paying attention to Agios Ioannis Beach. It is covered with white sand and pebbles. The sea water has an azure colour. The downside of this beach is the lack of shade and the presence of strong wind.

Lefkada guide
The main attraction of Lefkada is its white mountains, and the island’s very name translates as “white.” The largest town on the island is Lefkas, located in the north-eastern part. It is exactly here that you will find the greatest number of attractions.
While strolling around the island, you can visit Karya—one of the most beautiful settlements in these places—where you will become familiar with the customs of the people who live in this area. You will see handmade embroidery that will certainly amaze you.
Visit the Nydri commune, loved by many tourists. Here you will find a large number of bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. And if you like water sports, then Nydri is the place where you can make these dreams come true.
On the island of Lefkada there is a guard fortress, built in 1300. It bears the name Santa Maura and was meant to protect against pirates; it fulfilled this mission until 1684. To this day, cast-iron cannons can be seen by its walls. In addition, the fortress also has a small temple where the icon of Saint Maura is kept.
Also visit the archaeological museum, where exhibits are displayed that tell visitors the island’s history of 40 centuries.
We recommend taking a walk to the Akoni waterfall and the Gira district, where you will see windmills (previously there were twelve of them).
Every year on the island of Lefkada, a folklore festival is held, featuring dance performances, folk music, and various traditional crafts. This festival takes place in August.
