Accommodation tips in Prague. How to choose the hotel location
Accommodation tips in Prague. How to choose the hotel location. It is important to know that the city of Prague is divided into several districts, each of which has a number. That’s what they are called: Prague-1, Prague-2, and so on. The smaller the administrative district number, the closer it is to the city center. We recommend staying in districts 1 to 10, because this is exactly where Prague’s places to visit are located — the main attractions of the Czech capital, restaurants, and good hotels.
District recommendations: where to stay in Prague
For example, when it comes to Prague-1, this is where Charles Bridge in Prague is located, as well as Pražský hrad, which are the city’s most popular tourist sights.
If you enjoy walking through parks full of greenery, we recommend staying in Prague-4.
Prague-6 is the most prestigious district in the city, but also the most expensive in terms of staying.
It is worth choosing Prague-10 if you plan to visit the largest aquapark in Europe — it is located here. This district has many churches and chapels, which are local attractions and spark the interest of a large number of travelers. The downside of this district is the distance to Prague’s historic part: by bus it is about 40 minutes.

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic. You can visit it at any time of the year and have a pleasant stay. In spring, various flower species bloom here and everything turns green. Winter in Prague is mild, the temperature does not drop below -10 degrees Celsius.
Key sights and gastronomic particularities in Prague
If you don’t have a planned itinerary and you’re wondering what to visit in Prague, then start your sightseeing with the Old Town. This is where Staromestska Square and the town hall are located, where you will see the Astronomical Clock — one of the city’s key symbols. You can climb the spiral staircase up to the observation deck in the Powder Tower to admire the beauty of the city from above. You can also see Prague from above from the Petrin Tower.
You can get to know the city’s history at Prague Castle Prazsky Hrad, which to this day is the residence of the President of the Czech Republic. The Jewish Quarter and the cemetery located there — one of the oldest in Europe — are of great interest and historical value.
Be sure to take a walk on the famous Charles Bridge over the Vltava River, which is decorated with authentic sculptures. A delight is the Dancing House — a modern architectural construction that has become a symbol of New Prague.
The traditional cultural program can be completed by visiting the National Theatre — a building of grand architecture, where opera and ballet are performed.
In the old center of Prague there is a fabulous place called Stradela Zlata, where Franz Kafka used to live. In season you can find plenty of excursions through this location. Nearby is Wenceslas Square with a large number of shops, restaurants, and museums.
Be sure to visit the Prague Zoo, where you will see rare and endangered animal species.

Frequently asked questions about trips to Prague
When is the best time to visit Prague?
Prague can be visited all year round, but the most comfortable periods are spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October), when the weather is mild and the city is less crowded than in peak summer or around the Christmas markets.
Do I need a visa for Prague if I depart from Moldova or Romania?
Romanian citizens can travel to the Czech Republic visa-free with a passport or even an ID card. Citizens of the Republic of Moldova and other non-EU countries usually need a valid Schengen visa. We can help with general guidance, but for official conditions you should always check the websites of embassies or visa centres.
What currency is used in Prague and how can I pay?
The official currency is the Czech koruna (CZK). In the centre and tourist areas you can usually pay by card, but it is still useful to have some cash for small shops, kiosks or local transport. We recommend exchanging money at authorised exchange offices or withdrawing from ATMs of major banks.
Is Prague suitable for a family holiday with children?
Yes, Prague is very family-friendly: there is a zoo, large parks, funicular rides, boat trips on the Vltava River and many interactive museums. We recommend family rooms or apartments and a more relaxed sightseeing pace with breaks in parks and cafés.
How do I get from Prague airport to the city centre or my hotel?
You can take the express bus and metro, a taxi or a private transfer. With Admiral.Travel we can include a group airport→hotel transfer in your package, and on request we can arrange a private transfer for families or small groups.
What meal plan do you recommend when booking a hotel in Prague?
In most cases we suggest choosing breakfast (BB) or breakfast + dinner (HB). Prague has a rich food scene with lots of cafés and restaurants, so it is nice to keep some meals free to try local places in the city.
What can I do in Prague if it rains for a few days?
Even on rainy days there is plenty to do: cosy historic cafés, museums, art galleries, covered river cruises on the Vltava and modern shopping centres. In the guide you receive with your booking you will find ideas for “rainy days”, and your travel consultant can always suggest extra options.
Are there popular day trips and excursions from Prague?
Yes, some of the most popular excursions include Český Krumlov, Karlovy Vary, nearby castles and a day trip to Dresden (Germany). When you book, we will send you the updated list of excursions and prices for your travel dates.
What should I know about the ticket and baggage on the Chișinău – Prague flight?
Baggage rules depend on the airline and the fare type. After your package is confirmed, your Admiral.Travel consultant will tell you the exact allowances for cabin and checked baggage, as well as any options and fees for additional luggage if needed.
What are the usual hotel check-in and check-out times in Prague?
Most hotels in Prague offer check-in after 14:00–15:00 and check-out by 11:00–12:00. If you arrive earlier or leave later, you can usually leave your luggage in the hotel’s storage room; early check-in or late check-out may be possible subject to availability and sometimes an extra charge.
What does the travel medical insurance included in the package cover?
The travel medical insurance covers, within the insured limit, emergency medical assistance, urgent treatment, medical transport and, in some cases, repatriation. The exact coverage is described in the policy you receive when booking, and we always recommend reading it carefully before departure.
Will I have internet, local SIM options and compatible sockets in Prague?
Prague uses standard European sockets (220V, type C/F), compatible with devices from Moldova and Romania. Wi-Fi is available in most hotels and many cafés. You can use your mobile operator’s roaming or buy a local SIM card / eSIM with a data package at a better rate.
