Advantages and features of a beach holiday in the resort town of Vlore
The resort city of Vlore is a locality with well-developed infrastructure. It covers an area of 12 square kilometers, with a population of over 130 thousand people. It is one of the few Albanian cities where a vacation can be comfortable and fun not only for a week, but also for two, even for a month.

Urban beaches:
- Old Beach. Located not far from the port of Vlore. It is large in both length and width; the best part is to the north, where a conifer forest grows.
The beach has free access, is considered public, although tourists from nearby hotels also relax here. The beach is sandy, the entry into the sea is gentle. All beach infrastructure is available: toilets, changing cabins, showers, cafés, stalls.
- Ri Beach. It is generally similar, but rocky.
The best locations for a beach holiday are considered Bora Bora (paid) and the Radima commune (free beach, very comfortable, fine pebbles).

The list of excursions includes short cruises. Nearby there are mountains for climbing enthusiasts. For hikers it is a real paradise: wide paved streets; walking paths through conifer forests, olive plantations and exceptional citrus gardens.
The season lasts from May to October, but the right time is summer. Air temperature in June – August is 25-30 °C, water temperature is up to 26 °C.
How to get to Vlore
- by bus from Tirana or Durres. In the first case the trip takes 3 hours, in the second – about 2 hours. The price is 600-400 lek (about 5 and 4 dollars).
- by car along a route by the sea and through mountain roads. It is very picturesque.

Ancient city, mentioned by the Greeks in the 6th century BCE as the colony of Avlon. It doesn’t have many attractions, but it is considered a monument of Albanian history. It was here, in 1912, that the politician and diplomat Ismail Qemali announced Albania’s independence. After that, Vlore, for a certain period, became the first capital of the independent state.
Attractions in Vlore:
- Independence Monument. You can see it in the city center, on Flag Square. Here you will also find the National Museum of Independence, near the embankment.
- Muradi Mosque – built of white and red stone in 1542.
- Kanin Castle. Its construction began in the 3rd century BCE. From here, an extraordinary view opens over the city and its surroundings.
- Zvernec Monastery. Built in the 13th-14th centuries. Erected in honor of the Holy Virgin Mary. It is located 20 minutes by transport from Vlore.
