Gentle surf of the southern island of Mallorca
The greatest number of attractions is concentrated in the capital – the city of Palma de Mallorca. One of them is the Gothic Cathedral. It is a large complex, built over 300 years by the best Spanish architects and builders. In the XX century, the interior was renovated by Antonio Gaudi. The walls of the building have preserved stained-glass windows from the XIV-XVI centuries, and in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity you can see the remains of Catalan and Aragonese rulers.
We recommend visiting the building of the former trade exchange La Lonja – a masterpiece of local medieval architecture. Today, various cultural events are held inside it, as well as international exhibitions.
Bellver Castle, with its unusual circular shape, is located on a hill, from where an extraordinary view opens over the panorama of the bay and the city. The construction, dating from the XIII century, is today a City Historical Museum.
You can find an atmosphere of royal luxury in the Almudaina Palace, where official receptions of the royal family are held today.
Also, visit the small town of Valldemossa. While walking along the paved streets, step into the old pharmacy of the monastery.
The spiritual center of the Balearic Islands is recognized as the Lluc Monastery, built in the XVII century. Lovers of cultural recreation should visit the local museum, which preserves more than 1000 priceless exhibits, the main one being the stone statue of the Virgin of Lluc – the altar of the island.
