Advantages and features of a beach holiday in North Male Atoll

In principle, as elsewhere in the Maldives, North Male Atoll has beautiful beaches, perfect cleanliness is observed here. Since North Male Atoll is located close to the capital, there is a busier boat traffic.

The beaches in these places, for the most part, are quite wide and long. The palm trees standing on the shore save from the heat. There is always a place to relax on the beaches - although they are popular with tourists, they are never very busy anyway.

North Male Atoll also has a public beach - it is located on the small uninhabited island of Vilingili. You will find this island to the west of Male. It can be reached from the capital by ferry. The public beach is popular with many tourists and locals as an escape from the resort atmosphere.

How to get there?

Flights to the Maldives from Chișinău and Bucharest

Maldives package holidays with departures from Chișinău and Bucharest can be booked in Admiral.Travel offices or online — it is easy to choose your hotel, dates and holiday format, and if needed you can split the payment into several parts.

Usually trips to the Maldives last from 7 to 14 nights, and flights operate all year round. In the high season from November to April there are more flight options and the weather is generally sunnier and more stable.

You can find more ideas for holidays and hotel options on our country page Maldives on Admiral.Travel.

The flight Chișinău – Malé or Bucharest – Malé is convenient and good value, but keep in mind that flights to this destination are not direct, only with a stopover.

The most comfortable option is the flights operated by Turkish Airlines, where meals are served on board. If the connection in Istanbul is delayed, you are offered a meal. If the layover lasts more than eight hours, you are also provided with a hotel room. But from experience and practice, Turkish Airlines aircraft operate quite frequently, so there are practically no very long layovers.

The total flight time is 11–12 hours.

In addition, from Bucharest there are flights operated by airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, Air France and Condor Airlines. The latter is not the most comfortable, but meals are served on board and checked baggage is included in the price, a fairly decent service.

The cheapest low-cost airlines

Flydubai – flies from Bucharest with a stopover in Dubai. Ticket prices are more attractive, but no meals are served on board and only hand luggage is included in the price. Checked baggage is paid additionally. The connections are relatively good, the layover does not last long.

Wizz Air flies from Bucharest with a stopover in Abu Dhabi or Dubai. It is the cheapest option, but with disadvantages: there is no catering on board and layovers can be long – up to 24 hours. It is suitable for those who want to see new and interesting places in the United Arab Emirates.

From the airport to the island you can get by seaplane or speedboat.

When you buy the tour in our agency, you will be met at the airport, transferred to the hotel by seaplane and at the end of the holiday from the hotel back to the airport.

If you travel independently, you can use the transfer services offered on the website https://www.atolltransfer.com. The cost of this service starts from 49 euros per person.

Frequently asked questions about Maldives packages from Chișinău and Bucharest

```
When is the best time to travel to the Maldives?
The classic high season in the Maldives is from November to April: more sunny days, calmer sea and excellent visibility for snorkelling and diving. From May to October the weather is more changeable with possible showers and waves, but hotel prices are often lower and conditions can be better for surfing.
Do citizens of Moldova, Romania, Ukraine and Russia need a visa?
For a tourist trip, no visa is needed in advance: on arrival in Malé you receive a stamp and a free tourist visa (usually for up to 30 days) as long as you have a valid passport, return ticket and confirmed accommodation booking.
Which currency should I take to the Maldives?
The official currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa (MVR), but in resort hotels prices are often shown in US dollars. The most convenient option is a mix: some USD cash in small notes for tips and small expenses, plus a bank card for paying accommodation and extra services; on local islands a bit of rufiyaa can also be useful.
What type of power sockets are used and do I need an adapter?
The Maldives mainly use the British type G sockets, but many hotels have universal sockets. Voltage is standard — 230 V, 50 Hz — so devices from Moldova and Romania usually only need a plug adapter, not a voltage converter.
How does mobile internet and Wi-Fi work on the islands?
Most resorts offer Wi-Fi in rooms and public areas, with speed depending on the hotel. On arrival at Malé airport you can buy a local SIM card from major operators and activate a mobile data package — this is usually more cost-effective if you actively use messengers and social media.
How is the transfer from Malé airport to the island organised?
Transfers are operated by speedboat or seaplane, depending on the distance to the island. If you buy a package with Admiral.Travel, airport meet-and-greet and both transfers — to the hotel and back — are already included; for independent trips you can arrange transfer via the hotel or specialised services.
Is the Maldives suitable for families with children?
Yes, many hotels are family-oriented: there are kids’ clubs, shallow pools, babysitting services, special menus and entertainment programmes. When selecting a package, our managers will recommend resorts with a gentle entrance into the sea and a calm lagoon where it is comfortable to swim with children.
Do I really need travel medical insurance?
Travel medical insurance is strongly recommended and is already included in many package holidays. Medical services on the islands are expensive, so a policy covering emergency treatment and hospitalisation is the minimum you should have for a comfortable and worry-free trip.
Which meal plan is best for the Maldives?
For remote islands, half board (breakfast + dinner) or all inclusive is usually optimal: there are often no independent cafés nearby and hotel à la carte prices can be high. If you like a wide choice of drinks and snacks during the day, it makes sense to book all inclusive from the start.
What if it rains while I am in the Maldives?
Even in high season short showers are possible, so you can simply wait them out in the spa, bar or on your villa terrace. Many resorts offer a rich programme: cooking classes, yoga, board games, excursions to local islands and spa visits, so your holiday will not be spoiled by changeable weather.
Are there good spots for snorkelling and diving?
Almost every resort island is surrounded by a house reef where you can snorkel straight from the beach. For diving and encounters with manta rays or whale sharks, resorts organise trips to the best reefs and atolls; when you book, we will recommend hotels with particularly rich marine life.
What is usually included in a Maldives package from Chișinău or Bucharest?
A typical package includes flights with checked baggage, group or private transfer from Malé airport to the island and back, hotel accommodation in the chosen category, your selected meal plan and basic travel medical insurance; excursions, spa treatments and water sports are paid for separately.
