PROGRAM: Chisinau – Wineries and Castles (Cricova, Mimi, Vinuri de Comrat ) – Saint places (Monastery Curchi, Old Orhei) -  Gagauzia (unique people with own interesting culture, living on the south of Moldova), Transnistria (fortress Bender, Tiraspol city tour)

DURATION: 4 nights / 5 days

Day 1

Firstly, you arrive to the Chisinau airport, where you will be met. After that, will be a sightseeing tour of the capital of Moldova. 

In the center of Chisinau the main historical and cultural attractions are concentrated – City Hall building, Organ Hall, Cathedral, Triumphal Arch and the famous monument Shtefan cel Mare.   After sightseeing you will go to a Moldovan restaurant, where you will have a possibility to taste local cuisine.  

Day 2

Continental breakfast in hotel and departure from the city. The first place to visit is a village Curchi, where is situated one of the most beautiful monasteries, also named Curchi. It has a rich history, being on the shore of the lake in Moldovan Codri. On the territory of the monastery, there is a summer church, built in 1866-1867 in baroque style. The Cathedral is the highest in the whole area of Moldova (its dome is 57 meters, and it is a twin brother of St Andrew’s Church from Kiev.

Visiting Old Orhei

Old Orhei is a famous historical and archaeological complex, being an open-air museum.

Old Orhei is a unique place by its energy, connected by the history of several civilizations, which left a rich heritage: Geto Dacians, Slavs, Tatar Mongols, Moldovians. You can visit rock monastery, mosque and caravanserai ruins, ruins of baths, near the river Raut, mausoleums, left after the Muslim city Shehr al Jadida and enjoy the picturesque beauty of natural landscapes.

A delicious lunch will be awaiting you at the restaurant “Eco Resort Butuceni”, with national Moldovan cuisine (zeama, placinte, mamaliga) and home wine. 

After that, you will go to Cricova – city near Chisinau. Here are situated the most famous in the world wine cellars “CRICOVA”.

It will be a sightseeing of wine cellars, which are the symbol and pride of Moldovan winemaking. Every street of wine cellars «CRICOVA » has its name, corresponding to a brand of wine: Cabarbet, Aligote, Dionis and others. There is a unique collection of wine, the oldest one being Jerusalem Pastoral, made in 1902. Cellars «CRICOVA» where visited by famous people as Yuri Gagarin, Vladimir Putin, Angela Merkel and others. During the sightseeing you will find out about the technology of wine production, walk through the cellar and taste three types of wine.

After Cricova you will be transferred to hotel and have free time.

Day 3

Continental breakfast and going to Transnistria. There you will visit Bender fortress, the biggest one in Europe, which is situated on the shore of the river Nistru.  

After that, you will visit the Tiraspol city, where during the sightseeing you will find out about its history. Tiraspol was founded in 1792 after the signing of a peace treaty between the Russian and Ottoman Empires.  

In Tiraspol you will visit the central square Suvorov, the oldest theatre in Moldova “Nadejda Aronetsky”, “Victory” park and other attractions.

After the sightseeing you will have a lunch in a restaurant “Kumanyok” with Ukrainian and European cuisines.

The next point is Castle “Mimi”, which is one of the most beautiful architectural objects in the world of winemaking. You will find out about the interesting castle history. Local winery was visited by Nicholas II, Russian Tsar. In Castle Mimi you will taste three types of wine.

After Castle Mimi you return to hotel in Chisinau.

Day 4

Continental breakfast.

Going to the south of Moldova – to Gagauzia.

Here you will have a sightseeing through the city Comrat – the capital of Gagauzia. The first official mention about it dates from 1789.

During the sightseeing in Comrat you will visit the main attractions of the city – walk of Fame, St John’s Cathedral, Lenin’s monument.

After that, you will have a transfer to the winery “Vinuri de Comrat”, founded in 1897. There will be a sightseeing through one of the most famous wine companies of Gagauzia, where you will find out about the history of winemaking, how the wine is made in the south of Moldova. You will taste 5 types of wine and have a delicious lunch.

You will visit the village Besalma, founded in 1791, famous by traditions and cultural values of the people from Gagauzia.

In Besalma there is the first museum of Gagauzian culture, with more than 15000 exhibits. You can make photoshoots in national Gagauzian costumes.

Return to hotel in Chisinau

Day 5

Continental breakfast. You will have a free time for buying souvenirs, made in Moldova.

Transfer to Chisinau airport.
