The benefits and features of a beach holiday in Mykonos
Mykonos Island has several sandy beaches. Most of them are located on the south coast of the island, where the winds don’t blow. The most famous beaches in Mykonos are Platis Gialos and Psarou. These beaches are the most visited by tourists in summer.
Paradise and Super Paradise beaches are very popular among nudists. Paradise Beach is more suitable for young people: noisy parties take place here, music plays non-stop, huge screens are set up right on the beach, and at night large discos are organized.
As for Super Paradise Beach, it is also quite noisy and cheerful. It is known as the “gay paradise”. The water here is very clean, the entry into the sea is deep enough, and it is better to get there by boat.
Another popular beach in Mykonos is Paraga. It is sandy and quite wide, being divided into two parts — south and north. The first is calmer, the second is crowded and noisy.
The sandy beach in Ornos is suitable for couples, being sheltered from the wind and having diving and windsurfing centers, restaurants, and cafés.
Fans of active отдых will appreciate Kalafati Beach, where equipment for water sports is available for rent. For diving and windsurfing lovers, this is the right place!
Overall, it can be said (and this is the opinion of almost everyone who has been here at least once) that the beaches of Mykonos, in every respect, are among the best sandy beaches in the Mediterranean Sea.

Mykonos Travel Guide
Greece’s Ibiza, Little Venice, nudist beaches, and the island’s “walking” attraction: Welcome to Mykonos!
Mykonos is a very popular Greek island, mainly among wealthy tourists. In other words, Mykonos is Greece’s Ibiza, no more and no less. It lies in the Aegean Sea, at a crossroads of winds, but at the same time, thanks to the breeze, it doesn’t get as hot here, and the weather is generally very pleasant and comfortable for relaxation.
In the summer months, the air temperature in Mykonos rises to +30 degrees Celsius.
Despite the fact that Mykonos island is, for the most part, a resort for a beach holiday, there are quite a few attractions you can visit here. For example, among them is the Alefkandra area, known as Little Venice. Once you get here, you’ll immerse yourself in rather narrow streets and houses located right by the water.
Near the port you’ll find the Byzantine church Panagia Paraportiani, as well as two museums – Archaeological and Ethnographic. In general, if we talk about churches, there are quite a lot on the island - around 350 or even more.
A kind of calling card of Mykonos island is its ancient windmills, five in total.
The island also has a men’s monastery, Panagia Tourliani Monastery from the 18th century, which houses a museum with church relics. And if you make it to the village of Delos, you can visit a rather interesting archaeological area; tours are organized there directly from the capital of Mykonos.
Armenistis Lighthouse is another local attraction. It is located on the northern coast. It was built in 1891, after a ship from England sank in these waters. The lighthouse is 19 meters tall and is still in operation.
And don’t forget to take a photo with Mykonos’s “walking” attraction — a pink pelican named Petros. This is a real live pelican that is also the island’s mascot. You can meet it anywhere in Little Venice – on the street and even in a taverna, which it often visits and where it is fed.
After you’ve visited Mykonos and familiarized yourself with all its sights, you can go on an excursion to the neighboring islands - for example, to nearby Santorini. The journey continues!
