The benefits and features of a beach holiday in Zakynthos
The beaches of Zakynthos are very diverse, all sharing one thing in common — beauty. The island has both secluded beaches where you can spend time in peace and harmony, and busier ones with well-developed infrastructure. Many beaches in Zakynthos are ideal for families with children, being equipped with everything a tourist may need.
One of the popular beaches in Zakynthos is Gerakas, a beach with white sand. This place amazes visitors because caretta-caretta turtles live here. Because of this, access to Gerakas Beach is closed before sunset; it also cannot be accessed before dawn. The entry into the sea is gentle, so you can relax safely with children. And if you like peace and solitude, then you should definitely choose this beach.
Navagio is a crowded beach, in the bay of which ships often arrive. This picturesque beach can only be reached by sea.
Banana Beach, named so because it resembles the shape of a banana. Its length is about five kilometers. Banana is an open beach, often exposed to winds. In addition, strong waves are often recorded here. Therefore, this place is more suitable for young people, but not for families with children. If you want comfort and privacy, it is recommended to stay on the left side of the beach (if you are facing the sea).
A few more beaches in Zakynthos popular with tourists: Alykes, Alykanas, Laganas, Dafni, Kalamaki, Makris Gialos, etc.

Zakynthos Travel Guide
Road to Paradise: A holiday on the Greek island of Zakynthos will stay in your memory for many years
Insulele Ionice are a corner of paradise on earth. It’s unlikely anyone would argue with that. The island of Zakynthos is part of this paradise in Marea Ionică. It’s a place where the water is crystal blue, the sand is velvety soft, and the views look as if they were created in a photo editor. And all of this is about Insulele Ionice, about Zakynthos.
If you plan to visit the island of Zakynthos, then of course the first thing you should consider is a beach holiday. There are many beaches here, all different: some are more suitable for family vacations, while others will appeal more to young people who can’t imagine life without loud parties, etc.
As for the attractions that should not be missing from every tourist’s itinerary, on Zakynthos there are many places that are of real interest to travelers.
One of the interesting attractions in Zakynthos is Capul Keri. It is the highest point on the island. Here you’ll find the largest flag of Greece and a lighthouse. It’s an ideal place to admire a beautiful sunset in a romantic atmosphere. Near the lighthouse there is a café offering a wonderful view of the sea and cliffs.
There is also a lighthouse at Capul Skinari, located near Peșterile Albastre. Standing by the lighthouse, you can see the neighboring island of Kefalonia. Two windmills are installed here, with a long descent down to the sea. Nearby there is a taverna with sun loungers on the veranda. Here you can spend time pleasantly, forgetting everyday worries and problems.
We recommend visiting the mini zoo at Askos Stone Park. It’s a zoo where you can hold turtles in your hands and feed raccoons and birds. The staff will give you olive branches, which are adored by the deer that roam here.
Visit the church of Sf. Dionisie. At the entrance, you can admire interesting mosaics, and inside, icons painted by Greek artists. The church walls are painted as well.
Be sure to go to the Water Village water park, located in the village of Sarakinado. It is about six kilometers from the capital of Zakynthos. The park has slides of different heights, suitable for both children and adults. There are plenty of pools and water развлечения, and bars and cafés operate right on the park grounds.
Finally, we advise you to visit the local nature reserve, which is located on two islands and covers the territory of several beaches at the same time. This place will be interesting for both adults and children. Here you can see iguanas, porcupines, dolphins, turtles, and other exotic animals.
