Beaches and sea entry: sand versus pebbles

In Kemer, pebbles dominate. The coastline is narrow, and the sea becomes deep quickly. The water is incredibly clear — ideal for snorkelling. For children up to 5 years old, entering the sea from a pebble beach becomes a challenge that requires special water shoes, while pushing a stroller over stones is a real sport in itself. There are exceptions: in Göynük there are sections with sand, while in Tekirova there are areas with mixed coverage, but the overall picture remains the same.

In Belek — fine sand. The seabed is gentle, and the shallow entry can continue for dozens of metres. Water transparency suffers: sand particles make the sea less “postcard-like”. On the other hand, children can play without shoes, and parents do not have to calculate every step towards the water. In the Kadriye area, rocky sections sometimes appear — we recommend checking this aspect when choosing a hotel.

In Kemer, pebbles dominate, the sea entry is deeper, and the water is transparent; in Belek, there is sand and a gentle entry, which is more convenient for children, but the water is less transparent.

Climate, mountains and season: when is the best time to go

Kemer is protected by the Taurus Mountains from cold winds, but they also retain humidity. Summers are hot here, but coniferous forests and sea breezes reduce the feeling of heat. Best months: June and September. In July–August, air temperatures remain consistently at +33…+36°C, while the water reaches +28°C.

Belek is a flat area with eucalyptus forests. Humidity is lower, the air feels easier to breathe, but there are fewer shaded areas, and air-conditioned hotel lobbies become a refuge during midday hours. September and October are ideal months here: the sea is still +27°C, while daytime temperatures drop to +30°C.

According to data from the Turkish Meteorological Service (averages for the 2021–2025 period), the summer season in Belek is 1.5–2°C warmer during peak hours due to its lower altitude compared to sea level. For guests sensitive to weather changes, this is an argument in favour of mountainous Kemer.

Hotel selection, All Inclusive and holiday style

Kemer offers compact 4–5* hotels, many of them with private bays. There are no giant resorts with 1,000 rooms here. The Adult Only concept is much more common, while kids’ clubs exist but not everywhere. At the same time, going outside the hotel for a walk along the promenade is completely normal: bars, shops and a lively atmosphere.

Belek — is the land of resorts. Hotels occupy huge areas with parks, water parks and mini zoos. Children’s infrastructure is a benchmark: from heated pools to professional animation teams. The disadvantage — there are very few activities outside the hotels, and the resort consists mainly of closed complexes. The premium segment is represented by golf hotels with world-class courses.

The real cost of a holiday: comparison in figures

We analysed the period 15–22 July 2026, departure from Chișinău, two adults, 7 nights, 5* Ultra All Inclusive, first coastline. The data was collected through Admiral Travel’s partner booking systems on 28 July 2026:

Kemer (Göynük/Kiriş area): from €840 per person for accommodation in a double room.

Belek (central area): from €990 per person under the same conditions.

The difference of 12–15% is confirmed. The budget 3–4* segment in Kemer starts from €550, while comparable options in Belek are extremely limited — most often they are guesthouses without their own infrastructure.

Kemer or Belek for holidays with children: three age categories

According to our data (Admiral Travel, summer 2026 bookings), 87% of families with children up to 5 years old choose Belek, even though the price is 10–12% higher. The reason — safe water entry and shaded parks.

0–5 years

Without a doubt, Belek. Sand, a gentle seabed, no risk of slipping on pebbles. The transfer is 20–25 minutes shorter — the child gets less tired. Consider Kemer only if the hotel has its own sandy beach.

School-age children 6–12 years

Belek wins thanks to its water parks and animation programmes. Kemer becomes more attractive if excursions are planned — children will already appreciate the canyons, yacht tours and ancient cities.

Teenagers

Kemer offers more freedom of movement and more activities outside the hotel. Belek offers golf and water sports, but trips to Antalya for entertainment will require more time.

Entertainment, excursions and nightlife

Kemer — the base for active travellers. Göynük Canyon, the Taurus Mountains, the ancient city of Phaselis, yacht tours to the sunken city. In the evening, the promenade transforms into an area with bars, clubs and live music. The holiday has a dynamic rhythm.

Belek — a family-oriented rhythm. The main attraction is The Land of Legends, with a huge water park and evening shows. Excursions include Aspendos and Perge, while Antalya is approximately 40 minutes away. Nightlife is quiet, taking place mainly within hotel grounds.

Airport transfer and mobility

The distance from Antalya Airport to hotels in Kemer is 45–60 km, and during periods of heavy traffic the journey takes 60–70 minutes. To Belek — 30–40 km, 35–50 minutes. The half-hour difference is noticeable when travelling with small children.

For guests planning to rent a car, Kemer is more convenient: the main road runs along the coast, allowing you to independently reach Çamyuva, Tekirova and Phaselis. Belek is more of a resort enclave, where tourists mainly arrive and stay within the hotel complex.
