For beach time, the season is usually from aprilie–mai to octombrie, while spring and autumn are excellent for city breaks.

Tell us your dates and budget, and we’ll come back with hotel, transfer, and insurance options so you can travel with peace of mind.

What to see: history, forts, and iconic spots

Across all three islands there are quite a few attractive sights, most of them connected to history.

- Palatul Marelui Maestru (Valletta). It is a fort built from light-colored stone. In the Middle Ages, this was the residence of the leaders of Ordinului Maltei.

- Grădinile Barrakka (Valletta), considered the most visited attraction in the city. Exotic plants grow in tiers here, among statues and medieval towers. From the lookout you can see the bay and three cities din Malta.

- Fort Manoel (Gzira). A cyclopean structure built in secolul XVIII; today it has become a film pavilion — a set where the series „Urzeala Tronurilor” was filmed.

- Muzeul Torturii (Mdina). A unique 18+ place, not for the faint-hearted. It contains a collection of torture instruments, plus illustrative examples of how they were used on blood-covered mannequins.

- Catedrala Sfântul Ioan (Valletta). Officially, the Hospitallers were called Ordinul Sfântul Ioan de Ierusalim. Right after arriving pe Malta, the knights began building the cathedral dedicated to their patron. It is a vivid example of excellent Italian Baroque from secolelor XVI-XVII.

- Insula Gozo: fereastră azurie (an arch in a massive rock — a cult spot for „selfie pentru memorie” lovers). Temple megalitice Ggantija, built approximately in anul 3500 î.e.n. Muzeu de arheologie, turnuri de gardă.

- Grădina Botanică Sf. Antonio, where Christmas visitors are gifted oranges grown right here.

- Peștera și muzeul Ghar Dalam.

This is not a complete list. Besides these, tourists are welcomed by Muzeul mașinilor clasice, Fortul inexpugnabil San Angelo, Grădinile Barrakka, turnul „Armstrong”, cu o masa de 90 de tone, fiind utilizabilă, Hipogeo de Hal Saflieni, which is 6 mii de ani old, and many more.

FAQ about a Malta holiday

Planning & conditions

When is the best time to visit Malta?

Spring and autumn are great for walks and tours, while summer is ideal for the beach, though it can be hotter and busier.

Do I need a visa to enter Malta?

UE citizens enter visa-free; for Republica Moldova and Ucraina it is usually visa-free for short stays with a biometric passport (90/180), while other nationalities follow Schengen rules, so check before departure.

What can I do if it rains during my trip?

It’s a perfect time for museums, cathedrals, forts, cozy cafés, and exploring places like Valletta or Mdina without strong sun.

What are typical hotel check-in / check-out times?

Check-in is usually in the afternoon and check-out in the morning; if you have an early or late flight, we can help with luggage storage options or late check-out (where available).

Money & comfort

What currency is used in Malta?

Malta uses the euro (EUR); cards are widely accepted, but it’s handy to have some cash for small purchases and tips.

What power plugs are used in Malta? Do I need an adapter?

Type G (UK-style) sockets are common; we recommend bringing a travel adapter for chargers and electronics.

Which meal plan is best: BB, HB, or All Inclusive?

For exploring and day trips, BB or HB is usually the most flexible; if you want maximum hotel time, All Inclusive can be very convenient (depending on the resort).

Is Malta suitable for families with kids?

Yes — there are accessible beaches, promenades, and easy sightseeing; choosing the right area and hotel for your family’s pace matters most.

Transport & activities

How do you get around Malta easily?

Buses cover the islands well, and for quick comfort you can use taxis/ride-hailing; ferries make Gozo easy to reach.

What about SIM cards and internet?

You can use roaming (especially if your SIM is from UE) or get a local SIM/eSIM; the best choice depends on your data needs and trip length.

Is snorkeling or scuba diving worth it in Malta?

Yes — visibility can be excellent and there are many diving centers; pick a calm sea day and book ahead if you want a course or a guided dive.

Which excursions are the most popular in Malta?

Valletta and Mdina, a day in Gozo, short coastal cruises, and tours to forts, cathedrals, and gardens — we’ll recommend what fits your season and pace.
